Tesco has issued an urgent recall of its Stir Fry Tikka Chicken ready meal due to an allergy labeling error that poses a serious health risk. The issue stems from undeclared egg and mustard present in a sauce sachet—ingredients not mentioned on the product packaging. This mislabeling could endanger those with allergies or intolerances to these components.

The affected product is the 650 g Stir Fry Tikka Chicken ready meal, specifically those bearing a use-by date of September 7, 2025. Tesco has swiftly removed these items from store shelves and issued a warning advising customers not to consume the meal

What should customers do? If you’ve already purchased the affected product, Tesco recommends returning it to any store for a full refund, even if you don’t have the receipt.

In response to the incident, Tesco expressed a sincere apology for the inconvenience caused and clarified that no other Tesco products are affected by this issue.

The recall follows routine practices by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), which frequently issues food safety alerts when mislabeled or potentially unsafe products are identified
